Drop an ODB++ job
.tgz, .tar.gz, .tar or .zip — the archive that contains matrix/matrix.
Copper area is measured from real feature geometry and clipped to the board profile.
Optional: drop the fabrication-drawing PDF with it, and copper weights are read from its layer stack legend. Add the fab's capability workbook (.xlsx) or IPC-1710A profile (PDF or Word) to check against that vendor. Download the blank vendor capability questionnaire (.xlsx)
Password-protected features (vendor library and Windows download): send an access request by text to +1 (408) 518 1496.

Coverage & weight by layer
| Layer | Copper coverage | Copper weight (oz/ft²) | Cu area (mm²) | Cu mass (g) |
|---|
Coverage = copper feature area ÷ board profile area. Outer-layer weights are the finished weight (starting foil + plating, which also plates the holes). Mass uses 8.96 g/cm³; 1 oz/ft² ≡ 34.79 µm. Values typed by you are marked manual, values read from the job are marked file, values from a drawing stack legend pdf (hover for the nominal weight and finished thickness).
Stack symmetry
Mirrored-pair difference in percentage points, and the true relative difference — how much more copper the heavier side of the pair carries, (heavier − lighter) ÷ lighter. Judged on copper quantity (coverage × foil thickness) when both weights are known. Pairs are matched from the outside in (L1↔Lfinal). Under ~20% is comfortable; above ~50% drives lamination and reflow warpage.

DFM review
Vias and drill spans, etching against copper weight, rings and clearances, stackup, solder mask and data completeness — the issues that make a fab decline to quote. Uses the copper weights in the table above, and the vendor's limits if you add them below.

Used only when the job's drill table states finished sizes. Holes not in the list use the allowances above, or finished + 0.05 mm (0.002 in) / the designer's tool size when those are blank.

Rule basis: Vendor = the vendor's trace and space for that copper weight; Typical † = the vendor gives none for that weight, so typical-fab values are used — ask the vendor before relying on those calls.
